Chinese new year 2012



2nd January 2012, Thursday,  Segi university college Kuala Lumpur which is located at Jalan Hang Likue was having a special event for the Chinese New Year festival. While, they celebrated with fantastic lion dance which is interest and attract everyone to watch the performance.
Other than that, big amount of the group crowded to watch the celebration of Chinese New Year celebration and they enjoyed maximally the dragon dance. As we know, the lion dance is the traditional dance of Chinese.

The lion dance is often mistakenly referred to as dragon dance.  An easy way to explain the difference is that a lion is dance by two dancer, while a dragon needs many dancer and also in a lion dance, the performers' faces are fully covered, and since they are inside the lion. In a dragon dance, the performers can be seen easily since the dragon is held upon poles.

2012 Chinese New Year event in Segi KL more cheerful compare to last year celebration. According to the Chinese calendar, 2012 known as a dragon year for them. They believe that the whole year will bring more prosperity to everyone. Every year we can watch and enjoy watching the lion dance during the Chinese New Year festival.
During Chinese New Year festive season, they prepare special foods for the festival. As we know in the special days we can mandarin orange in market easily. So, mostly everyone enjoy eating orange all the day of Chinese New Year. Other than that, giving money called ANGPAU is in their cultural.
While they doing lion dance performance they enjoyed throwing or can passing the mandarin orange to everyone. So the people who catch it trust as the luckiest person. After the lion dance Segi College Management arranged open house for the student. And they prepared variety of foods for every college member.
