THAIPUSAM FESTIVAL2012 IN MALAYSIA
On 7th February 2012, thaipusam
festival celebrated by our Tamil community in Batu Caves. Around 100,000
devotees participate in the Thaipusam festival. They provide security for our
devotee’s safety. Temple of Batu Caves crowded by all our devotees.
Thaipusam is a Hindu festival which is mostly
celebrated by Tamil community regarding on the full moon in the Tamil month of
Thai. month of THAI is on January and February. Thaipusam (pusam) is referred
in Malayalam language as Thaipooyam and also Pusam is referred to a star which
is a highest point during the festival. The thaipusam festival known as lord Murugan’s
birthday who youngest son of lord Shiva and Parvathi and the occasion when lord
Parvati gave Murugan a vel (spear) because he could overcome the evil demon soorapadman.
Generally,
people take vow to offer the lord a kavadi for tha sake of tiding over a great
calamity.The
kavadi has various shapes and sizes,from the simple shape.while,every year before 2 day for Thaipusam all Malaysian devotees walked all the from Kuala Lumpur Mariamman temple until Batu Caves and followed with chariot.That chariot has decorated with flower and colors.
so,this is the one of the famous festival that celebrated by Tamil community.
